Amway Spaulding Avenue Manufacturing Facility Fact Sheet

  • Amway has started construction of an $81 million vitamin and supplements plant at its Spaulding Avenue site, three miles west of its World Headquarters in Ada, Michigan, USA.
  • The 317,000-square-foot manufacturing and warehouse site is anticipated to be completed in 2015.
  • When fully operational, the Spaulding Avenue site will produce three billion tablets and 1.3 billion softgels annually.
  • The site will add 50 jobs initially, with 200 new jobs anticipated to be added in its first three years of operations.
  • The Michigan Economic Development Corporation approved a $1.6 million Michigan Business Development Program incentive from the Michigan Strategic Fund to support construction of the manufacturing facility.
  • Ada Township has approved an industrial facilities exemption for the Spaulding site. The tax abatement is for the maximum 12 years allowed by the State of Michigan.
  • The Spaulding Avenue site will feature the first fully integrated packaging line, creating a connection link between all major components of the manufacturing line that will speed changes and updates.
  • The manufacturing facility will feature more than 100 pieces of major equipment when completed.
  • The site also will feature a 22,000-square-foot quality assurance lab to provide on-site testing of manufactured product during various stages of the manufacturing process
  • The site repurposes an existing structure the formally served as the hub of the North American operation for Amway and a warehouse for goods produced by the organization.
